iQOO 3 : Worth buying in 2021?

iQOO, for those of you who don’t know, is a subsidiary of Chinese manufacturer Vivo, whose Parent company, in-turn is BBK Electronics. The first smartphone that iQOO launched here in India was the iQOO 3 , which quite surprisingly launched at a good price, considering what it came packed with. It was launched at 37K INR. But in a year’s time, the price’s has dropped significantly. It currently retails at 25K on Flipkart . iQOO 3 Shot on iPhone 5s (Blogger compression killed it -_-)  Having got it on Flipkart, I’ve been using the iQOO 3 for about two weeks now and here’s my review of the same.  Performance The iQOO 3’s got 2020’s flagship SoC, Snapdragon 865 . And just like any other flagship chip, this too performs exceptionally well. Day-to-day tasks are child’s play and graphically intensive tasks too are handled really well. For me, who previously used the Redmi 7, with the Snapdragon 632, this feels so much faster. What betters the experience is the 8 Gigabytes of DDR5 RAM...

Looking for a Budget iPhone? Now’s the best time to get one!

With the Republic Day in the near future, E-commerce platforms are fully geared up for the ‘Republic-Day Sale’, among which Amazon and Flipkart have got amazing deals on offer (Great Republic Day Sale and Big Saving Days respectively). Deals on Android smartphones being quite common, iPhones have never got major price cuts (except for the previous Amazon sale). This time though, the scenario’s changed. Deals on iPhones are way more exciting. Read ahead to know more.

iPhone XR:

The iPhone XR has gained so much importance for itself that it’s the only iPhone from the X lineup that Apple’s still manufacturing and is on its Store.
Though, this iPhone’s 2 year old, it’s still got so much life. With Apple’s amazing software update policy, it’d keep getting the latest version of iOS for the next 3 years, after which too, it isn’t going to get bad (I meant, performance). The A12 Bionic on the XR is so much capable. It can handle Graphically Intensive tasks really well, especially gaming. The same processor’s featured on the iPad 8th Gen that launched in mid-2020, which is why, having the same on a smartphone in 2021 isn’t a bad idea.
With Apple nailing the camera and the fundamentals on the XR, which other mid-rangers in the same price-range lack, it’s surely not the one you should ignore.

With the pros discussed, we can’t get through without the cons:
The only con here is its display. It surely isn’t bad. But those slightly thicker bezels and a 720P resolution aren’t in par with its counterparts.

So, if you’re someone who isn’t getting a phone on the purpose of media consumption ONLY, you’ve surely got to consider this.

The iPhone XR, on Flipkart’s Big Saving Days, is currently selling at 39,999 INR, which is exclusive of all Bank offers. And if you’re someone who’s into Bank offers, and uses a HDFC Debit or Credit Card, you’ll be eligible for additional 3000INR off, which’ll make the XR cost you 36,999 INR. And all of this, is with the Charging Cable and adapter in the box!
That’s a steal!

The only other smartphone other than the iPhone 11 lineup that’s got Apple’s last generation super fast A13 Bionic chipset, is the new iPhone SE. With the SE locking horns with the likes of Mi 10T, Oppo Reno 4 Pro, the Pixel 4a and the OnePlus Nord, it surely has a way more superior chipset. The Camera too, though may not have a upper hand against the Pixel 4a, is really good!

Again, it’s got the Software advantage as well. With just one year past its launch, you’re surely going to get iOS updates to the next 4 years

Here’re some of its cons:
With such a powerful processor, it’s got to have a lot of power, which it unfortunately doesn’t. It’s got a 1821 mAh battery. One more aspect that keeps it apart is the 3-year old iPhone 8 design. Though there a quite a few people who love this form-factor, many of them don’t.

So, if you’re someone who’s fine with the form-factor and don’t mind plugging your smartphone in for charging, frequently (IF, you use it for heavy tasks), then this surely wouldn’t disappoint you. Not just the smartphone, but also the price.

The iPhone SE, is selling on Flipkart’s Big Saving Days, at 31,999 INR without Bank Offers. Again, if you’re into Bank offers, and own a HDFC Debit or Credit Card, you’ll be eligible for 3000 INR off. So, that’d cost you 28,999 INR, which is an amazing deal!

Special Mention:

The iPhone 11, though being 2 years old, I felt was surely worth a mention. If you’re ready to expand your budget a little more (about 10K), iPhone 11, with it’s really good dual-camera setup and the A13 Bionic, isn’t a no-go. The iPhone 11, on Amazon’s Great Republic Day Sale, is selling at 48,999 INR, which is the lowest it’s ever got. If your budget’s lying around 50K, this is something you’ve surely got to consider.

(Update 25/1 : Marking the end of sale, the iPhone 11 is currently retailing at 49,999 INR on Amazon.)

That was it for the blog.
Hope it was useful.
Thanks for reading till the end :)

OBS Studio: Makes your Video Conferencing / Recording MUCH BETTER!

In the recent past, the companies that have gained huge popularity are Video-conferencing and online learning platforms (Byjus' and WhiteHatJr).  And so is the popularity for screen recorders and virtual-cameras. You might've heard of screen recorders and Video-conferencing software, but what's a virtual-camera? A camera without hardware? Absolutely not!  A virtual-camera is something that can output/stream video wherever you want it to.  Virtual Camera on OBS:  OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is a widely used open-source streaming/recording software. As the name suggests, it helps you with streaming/recording content from you PC.  Image Courtesy: Elegant Themes How to use it?  Here's a mini-guide on how it can be useful to you If you've got to configure your video, i.e, crop out, adjust the lighting (through software though: Brightness) and all other kinds of configurations, here's how you've to do it.   In the "Sources" Window in the bott...

Apple M1 : What’s going on with the ARM based SoC?

In the recently concluded ‘ Spring Loaded ’ event, Apple unveiled some of their highly anticipated products, including the AirTags with U1 chip, redesigned iMac , and iPad Pro of course. On the software side of things, Apple Podcasts ’s got an updated fresh looking app and will be a subscription based service.  Image Courtesy: CNET   But what caught everyone’s eye and currently is the talk of the hour is M1 . You’d right now probably be like, “Wait, M1 ain’t new”. Of course M1 isn’t new to any of us, but it surely is new to the iPad and iMac! Yes you read it right, both the newly launched iMac and iPad ’ve got the M1 chip.  What’s going on with M1? iMac: Image Courtesy: Business Insider Basically, M1’s an ARM based SoC (System on Chip). In simpler words, it’s an integration of components like the CPU, GPU, RAM, Storage, ISP (Image Signal Processor) and the neural engine. Previously, each of these components weren’t present as a whole, which’s why the M1’s so much m...
