iQOO, for those of you who don’t know, is a subsidiary of Chinese manufacturer Vivo, whose Parent company, in-turn is BBK Electronics. The first smartphone that iQOO launched here in India was the iQOO 3 , which quite surprisingly launched at a good price, considering what it came packed with. It was launched at 37K INR. But in a year’s time, the price’s has dropped significantly. It currently retails at 25K on Flipkart . iQOO 3 Shot on iPhone 5s (Blogger compression killed it -_-) Having got it on Flipkart, I’ve been using the iQOO 3 for about two weeks now and here’s my review of the same. Performance The iQOO 3’s got 2020’s flagship SoC, Snapdragon 865 . And just like any other flagship chip, this too performs exceptionally well. Day-to-day tasks are child’s play and graphically intensive tasks too are handled really well. For me, who previously used the Redmi 7, with the Snapdragon 632, this feels so much faster. What betters the experience is the 8 Gigabytes of DDR5 RAM...
After WhatsApp asking users to accept its new privacy policy via a pop-up on the app, there might be confusion among users on whether its ideal to continue on WhatsApp. Here’s a mini-guide on which messenger’s user-friendly and which one you should use.
In their new policy, WhatsApp clearly mentioned that user data will be shared with Facebook, which is well known for its data collection. It said that, though there aren’t any ads as of now on WhatsApp itself, you will be able to view ads on Facebook based on your WhatsApp activity (Links shared, statuses, profile photos et cetera).
Here’ what WhatsApp mentioned:
Though there wasn’t much detail in the pop-up itself, there’s a ton of it hidden in the hyperlinks which many don’t bother to click on. But if you do and missed out while you got the update, here it is
The only other alternatives to trust are Telegram, which is highly popular here in India for it’s E2E encryption being used in a really bad and sad manner and other contender, Elon Musk recommended, Signal.

Here’s what each one’s got to offer:
Telegram
The biggest advantage that Telegram’s got over ‘Facebook’s’ WhatsApp, is that it is Open Source.
Telegram, though has a really simple UI, has quite a lot features.
- Group Capacity : 2,00,000
- Public Channels
- Bots
- Cloud Storage
- Secret Chat (You’ll know what it is in a bit)
- Max File Size (For sharing of course): 2GB - Any format
- Web App and Sign in across multiple devices
Those were some of the features that Telegram’s got over WhatsApp. But, the only feature that it misses out is ‘Group Calling‘ (Both Voice and Video)
All this’ fine. But what about the privacy?
First up, Telegram’s Open-Source, meaning, anything mischievous, can be identified. And secondly, it isn’t owned by any tech giant and is most likely not to, in the future as well.
Telegram’s got this feature called ‘Secret Chat’ where everything happening is E2E(End-to-End) encrypted. This feature isn’t turned on, by default though.
Signal
This one too has open-sourced its code, which again explains why it’s highly respected. Signal, though was founded by the same person as WhatsApp, is likely not to get acquired by any tech giant.
Signal’s biggest advantage over the other two is it’s UI. Simply amazing.
Some of the stand-out features that it’s got are:
- E2E encryption on all chats and calls.
- Web App and multi-device sign-in
- Group capacity: 1000
- Note to self
- Disappearing Messages
E2E encryption and the fact that it’s open-source, the privacy side of things are made quite clear. Unless you’ve got a stadium full of people chatting with, 1000 user capacity in a group would be sufficient.
The Note to Self feature here is basically a place where you send messages to yourself maybe to be reminded about something or send a piece of media to another device of yours through which you’ve signed into Signal.
Fun Fact: Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter uses Signal and is in all praise of it.
Verdict: Which one to use?
Not that Elon Musk did it, but I’d recommend Signal.
Unless you’re someone who prefers the capacity of your group being 2,00,000 and enjoys the freedom of sharing huge files, you should get Signal.
With its AMAZING UI, multi-platform support, multi-device log-in and respect for your privacy, Signal is an absolute WhatsApp Killer!
Make the shift before February 8th.
This was it for the blog.
Hope it was helpful :)
