Apple, in its third event this year, named "One more thing", revealed something game-changing. And that's the new MacBooks. Now, you might think, what's so amazing about that? Apple does that every year. But there's a twist this time. What's that?
Here it is:

Apple has been launching MacBooks every year, with a slight upgrade in almost every aspect: Most times it being performance. And this time too is no different, Apple launched the new MacBook lineup, not with a small upgrade, but a huge one. Apple previously couldn't fiddle around too much on the performance side of things as the CPU and GPU built in the MacBooks were made by Intel and AMD respectively. But now, Apple's done a massive transition from Intel/AMD to its own chips. Apple's mobile chips have always been the leading ones in the industry and so are going to be the ones on the MacBooks.

Apple's named its new chip as M1, where M 'might' stand for Mac. The M1 has an 8-Core CPU, an 8-Core GPU and a 16-Core Neural Engine. One of the most important aspects of the M1 is that it is built on a 5NM process, which is really amazing, far ahead of the competition, who are still stuck at 11NM/14NM

Apple launched 2 of its MacBooks and 1 Mac (Computer - CPU) in the event: The low-end MacBook Air and the high-end MacBook Pro (but just with the 13" display). Both of them come equipped with the M1.
The CPU performance on the MacBook Air has increased by 2.5x when compared to the previous generation MacBook Air, which is phenomenal. And not just that, believe it or not, the power consumption has reduced by 1/10th on certain tasks. This makes the MacBook Air last 18 hours on a single charge! Mind-Blowing! isn't it?
The GPU too has a massive boost, delivering 5x better performance than the last generation!
That isn't it. The M1, having a 16-Core Neural Engine, makes machine learning 9x faster!
Storage is up to 2x faster now.

Coming to the MacBook Pro 13" it has a 2.8x increase in CPU performance, that too retaining the power efficiency. The GPU performance has increased as much as the MacBook Air, 5x. The Machine Learning though, it's better by 11x. AMAZING!
And you might be expecting the MacBook Pro to last slightly less than the Air, as it's more powerful. But that's not the case. The MacBook Pro can last for 20 hours, making it the most efficient MacBook ever!
Every other spec i.e the display, keyboard, camera are the same as the previous generations'.

Other than the MacBooks, Apple also launched it's 'mini' computer (CPU only), the Mac mini. The Mac mini is the one receiving the biggest upgrades. The CPU and GPU performances are 3x and 6x better respectively. And the Machine Learning here, powered by the 16-Core Neural Engine, has got 15x better. WOW!
The ports on the Mac Mini: An Ethernet port, 2 Thunderbolt / USB 4 (Data transfer at a speed of 60 Gb/s and connecting to an external display at 6K resolution), 1 full-sized HDMI port (4K), 2 USB-A Ports and a headphone jack :)

All these have some features in common. Some of them are:
- All of them have the all-new macOS Big Sur, which can do wonders when it comes to multitasking and ease-of-access. And not just that, the new macOS can also run many of the iOS and iPadOS apps. Older features too have improved a lot, like Safari becoming 50% faster on average when compared to Chrome.
- This feature is something that no one's ever able to achieve: All the new Macs, the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and the Mac mini have NO FANS!!, which proves how efficient the M1 chip is. So no matter how heavy the task you're doing is, it's always SILENT.
