5G in India still is the far future. There are only 3 companies manufacturing the infrastructure required for 5G network and they are Huawei, Ericsson and Nokia. Huawei 5G, being banned by the US and UK due to their security concerns diminishes the hopes of 5G in the near future . They believe that Huawei's 5G equipment may be used by the Chinese Government to spy on them. This is relevant as the CEO of Huawei, Mr. Ren, was a member of China's army for 9 years until 1983. And, he's also a member of China's Communist Party.

Most phones that launched after mid 2020, have got SoCs with a 5G modem built in, even in India. So, most of you might be wondering, why is there a need of a 5G modem on phones when there's no 5G infrastructure/5G coverage?

Some may argue saying it's "Future proof".
It's future proof, yes. But there's more to it. It's really useful even though you've got a 4G network. How's that? Know it here:
5G bands on the recent smartphones are made capable of receiving higher frequencies, which not only makes the smartphones 5G capable, but also improves the 4G speeds. And the difference between a 4G modem receiving 4G speeds and a 5G modem receiving 4G speeds is not low. 5G bands give almost TWICE the speed of other 4G bands even on 4G networks. This being said, buying a brand new 5G mobile not only makes it future proof, but also improves the present networking experience by harnessing the most out of 4G, which most 4G phones do not.
This was it for the blog, a short one.
