The maximum use of video-conferencing apps has come only after the pandemic hit. There are a number of them, but one of the most used ones is Google's very own Google Meet.
Google Meet can be used with or without a G-Suite (Now known as Google Workspace), but a G-Suite (Google Workspace) would be more preferable as it too didn't cost anything, just some information of use.

Google Meet is being used by numerous Educational Institutions as the whole Google Ecosystem makes the virtual schooling experience really good. G-Suite for Education provides a lot of features such as, a fully integrated Google Classroom, through which Google Meets can be started only for the institution with all kinds of restrictions with the host.
After Google updated its G-Suite, we've not got many more useful features on Google Meet which were very much required by many.
- Earlier, if you were short of internet/data, you didn't have an option to not receive others' videos and also Educational Institutions, especially schools, forcing the students to turn on the camera. Sending your own video and receiving all others too made Google Meet one of the most data-consuming video-consuming apps. But now, the problem's solved!
We can stop receiving others video and just send ours (if forced to), and that indeed saves a lot of data. Now, we've got 2 new options in the receive video setting (Settings/Video/Receive Resolution) i.e. One video at a time (You will be able to view the video only of the person who's speaking) and only audio, which, as the name suggests, stops receiving videos. This is one of the BEST ways to save internet/data. - Sometimes, if the voice or the video of a participant gets choppy/laggy, you can confirm whether it's the problem on your side or the other participant's side by doing this: In the 'Troubleshooting and Help tab, it shows you the latency/ping of your network.
- There is also a new tab where you can create a Google JamBoard (basically, a whiteboard) which will automatically get shared to the chat/chatbox and will be accessible to all participants.
- One more miscellaneous feature is the background blur, which works fine.
