iQOO 3 : Worth buying in 2021?

iQOO, for those of you who don’t know, is a subsidiary of Chinese manufacturer Vivo, whose Parent company, in-turn is BBK Electronics. The first smartphone that iQOO launched here in India was the iQOO 3 , which quite surprisingly launched at a good price, considering what it came packed with. It was launched at 37K INR. But in a year’s time, the price’s has dropped significantly. It currently retails at 25K on Flipkart . iQOO 3 Shot on iPhone 5s (Blogger compression killed it -_-)  Having got it on Flipkart, I’ve been using the iQOO 3 for about two weeks now and here’s my review of the same.  Performance The iQOO 3’s got 2020’s flagship SoC, Snapdragon 865 . And just like any other flagship chip, this too performs exceptionally well. Day-to-day tasks are child’s play and graphically intensive tasks too are handled really well. For me, who previously used the Redmi 7, with the Snapdragon 632, this feels so much faster. What betters the experience is the 8 Gigabytes of DDR5 RAM...

Google Meet New Features! THANK YOU Google!

The maximum use of video-conferencing apps has come only after the pandemic hit. There are a number of them, but one of the most used ones is Google's very own Google Meet.

Google Meet can be used with or without a G-Suite (Now known as Google Workspace), but a G-Suite (Google Workspace) would be more preferable as it too didn't cost anything, just some information of use.

Google Meet is being used by numerous Educational Institutions as the whole Google Ecosystem makes the virtual schooling experience really good. G-Suite for Education provides a lot of features such as, a fully integrated Google Classroom, through which Google Meets can be started only for the institution with all kinds of restrictions with the host.

After Google updated its G-Suite, we've not got many more useful features on Google Meet which were very much required by many.

  • Earlier, if you were short of internet/data, you didn't have an option to not receive others' videos and also Educational Institutions, especially schools, forcing the students to turn on the camera. Sending your own video and receiving all others too made Google Meet one of the most data-consuming video-consuming apps. But now, the problem's solved!
We can stop receiving others video and just send ours (if forced to), and that indeed saves a lot of data. Now, we've got 2 new options in the receive video setting (Settings/Video/Receive Resolution) i.e. One video at a time (You will be able to view the video only of the person who's speaking) and only audio, which, as the name suggests, stops receiving videos. This is one of the BEST ways to save internet/data.

  • Sometimes, if the voice or the video of a participant gets choppy/laggy, you can confirm whether it's the problem on your side or the other participant's side by doing this: In the 'Troubleshooting and Help tab, it shows you the latency/ping of your network.

  • There is also a new tab where you can create a Google JamBoard (basically, a whiteboard) which will automatically get shared to the chat/chatbox and will be accessible to all participants.
  • One more miscellaneous feature is the background blur, which works fine.

This was it for the blog. Hope you liked it :)

OBS Studio: Makes your Video Conferencing / Recording MUCH BETTER!

In the recent past, the companies that have gained huge popularity are Video-conferencing and online learning platforms (Byjus' and WhiteHatJr).  And so is the popularity for screen recorders and virtual-cameras. You might've heard of screen recorders and Video-conferencing software, but what's a virtual-camera? A camera without hardware? Absolutely not!  A virtual-camera is something that can output/stream video wherever you want it to.  Virtual Camera on OBS:  OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is a widely used open-source streaming/recording software. As the name suggests, it helps you with streaming/recording content from you PC.  Image Courtesy: Elegant Themes How to use it?  Here's a mini-guide on how it can be useful to you If you've got to configure your video, i.e, crop out, adjust the lighting (through software though: Brightness) and all other kinds of configurations, here's how you've to do it.   In the "Sources" Window in the bott...

Yes you read it right, both the newly launched iMac and iPad ’ve got the M1 chip.  What’s going on with M1? iMac: Image Courtesy: Business Insider Basically, M1’s an ARM based SoC (System on Chip). In simpler words, it’s an integration of components like the CPU, GPU, RAM, Storage, ISP (Image Signal Processor) and the neural engine. Previously, each of these components weren’t present as a whole, which’s why the M1’s so much m...
