iQOO 3 : Worth buying in 2021?

iQOO, for those of you who don’t know, is a subsidiary of Chinese manufacturer Vivo, whose Parent company, in-turn is BBK Electronics. The first smartphone that iQOO launched here in India was the iQOO 3 , which quite surprisingly launched at a good price, considering what it came packed with. It was launched at 37K INR. But in a year’s time, the price’s has dropped significantly. It currently retails at 25K on Flipkart . iQOO 3 Shot on iPhone 5s (Blogger compression killed it -_-)  Having got it on Flipkart, I’ve been using the iQOO 3 for about two weeks now and here’s my review of the same.  Performance The iQOO 3’s got 2020’s flagship SoC, Snapdragon 865 . And just like any other flagship chip, this too performs exceptionally well. Day-to-day tasks are child’s play and graphically intensive tasks too are handled really well. For me, who previously used the Redmi 7, with the Snapdragon 632, this feels so much faster. What betters the experience is the 8 Gigabytes of DDR5 RAM...

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (FAN EDITION)! : Great! What about S20 Users?

Just a few days ago, Samsung launched the "Fan Edition" of their S20 lineup, the Galaxy S20 FE. This phone was teased a lot on most social media platforms, making the consumers' expectations high. But what was the outcome? Did it meet the expectation? Let's find out! :

First up, let's see some of S20's (Not the Fan Edition) highlights:

  • An AMAZING Samsung AMOLED display with a high 120Hz Refresh Rate. It's a 6.2-inch panel (not too big!). It also has a glass back protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 5.
  • Exynos 990 powering everything up. An amazing processor by Samsung that can handle day to day tasks with ease and also not disappoint the user in GPU performance. And this processor also adds up to better photos shot by the cameras, which we'll know in a bit.
  • The S20 has a Triple-Camera Setup: A 12-Megapixel Primary, A 12-Megapixel Ultrawide and a massive 64-Megapixel Telephoto camera, which 3x hybrid optical zoom and 30x digital. It also has support for shooting videos at 8K (useless unless you have an 8K display), all thanks to the Exynos 990, as I mentioned before. This one here has a 10-Megapixel Selfie shooter.
  • Battery: 4000mAh, quite good to last one day. And a 25W Samsung Standard charger in the box.

Now, let's see what the S20 FE comes packed with:
  • The same AMAZING Samsung's AMOLED 120Hz panel (6.5 inch) with the same resolution, Full HD+. The build here though is PLASTIC! And that doesn't qualify to the category of "Flagship". However, it has a good finish and gives a better feel than budget phones, being more grippy and not being a fingerprint magnet.
  • The Processor here too is Samsung's Exynos 990, it's the high-end processor. This too gets through day-to-day tasks very easily and gaming here is really good coupled with that 120Hz display. This too has camera advantages, which we'll come to in a bit.
  • The S20 FE, although not having the same design/array of cameras, it also doesn't have that 64-Megapixel amazing telephoto lens, which is replaced by an 8-Megapixel one. Other than that, the selfie shooter too has undergone a change. It is an upgrade here, 32-Megapixels v/s the 10-Megapixel one on the S20. On paper, it might seem like a huge difference, but in real life, it doesn't make a lot of difference.
  • The Battery too has undergone an upgrade: 4500mAh v/s 4000mAh. Although, the charging technology remains the same.

So if the S20 and the S20 FE have to be compared, you won't find many differences.
  • The Cameras on the S20 FE have undergone a slight downgrade
  • The build quality too is plastic on the S20 FE v/s glass on S20. If durability is ignored, in terms of look, I'm pretty sure no-one would be able to recognize that it is plastic.
  • PRICE: This is something that has undergone a huge change. The newer Fan Edition of the S20 costs "56,000" INR and the older S20 costs almost a massive 15000 rupees more i.e, 70,500 INR.
With this price difference and very little difference in specs, everyone would surely prefer the S20 FE and so do I. It's a great, although can't be classified as a "Flagship", value for money smartphone.
Newer buyers looking for a good smartphone in this price range can surely consider this.
And I feel sorry for the people who already bought the S20.

2020 8th Gen iPads: Can it replace your current PC?

In the Second Apple event this year, the new generation iPads were launched featuring massive upgrades , which wasn't quite expected. The iPad 10.2 8th Gen and the iPad Air were launched in that event, both of which have featured in my previous blog ( Check it out here if you haven't yet ). Which one's the best value among them (including the Pro) and can it replace your laptop / consider it for your new laptop? Know it here:  Here's a bit about the iPad 10.2 Inch 8th Gen: Image Courtesy: Apple Powered by the A12 Bionic , which featured in the iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR, was considered a very efficient and extremely powerful and capable chipset. Here too, the iPad 10.2 Inch 8th Gen delivers and it flies over our expectation. The A12 Bionic, along with the verywell optimised iPadOS , outperforms most budget laptops.  I'm saying this because, most budget PCs struggle to get past Video Editing.  It's " Cake Walk " for the iPad.  . Honor doing some Magic in the laptop industry!!

We've seen Honor's amazing mid-range smartphones in India which provide incredible value for money. But after the ban of Google on their smartphones, there is surely a dip in their sales in the smartphone industry. However, they've come up with something new to India's market: Laptops (Ultrabook)           Image Courtesy: Gizmochina There was  ZERO expectation of Honor entering the laptop industry. But they've entered it to create HAVOC. Honor recently launched its Magicbook 15 in India, which I feel is one of the best deals right now. Honor entered the Laptop market in India at a perfect time when people were in maximum need of it with the introduction of online classes and WFH (Work From Home).                     Image Courtesy: NDTV Gadgets 360 Specifications : I'm not going to waste your time by listing everything.
