iQOO 3 : Worth buying in 2021?

iQOO, for those of you who don’t know, is a subsidiary of Chinese manufacturer Vivo, whose Parent company, in-turn is BBK Electronics. The first smartphone that iQOO launched here in India was the iQOO 3 , which quite surprisingly launched at a good price, considering what it came packed with. It was launched at 37K INR. But in a year’s time, the price’s has dropped significantly. It currently retails at 25K on Flipkart . iQOO 3 Shot on iPhone 5s (Blogger compression killed it -_-)  Having got it on Flipkart, I’ve been using the iQOO 3 for about two weeks now and here’s my review of the same.  Performance The iQOO 3’s got 2020’s flagship SoC, Snapdragon 865 . And just like any other flagship chip, this too performs exceptionally well. Day-to-day tasks are child’s play and graphically intensive tasks too are handled really well. For me, who previously used the Redmi 7, with the Snapdragon 632, this feels so much faster. What betters the experience is the 8 Gigabytes of DDR5 RAM...

realme narzo 20 Pro: 'real' confusing!?

Recently, just a few days after the launch of realme 7 and the 7 Pro, realme also launched their 'younger' narzo (it is 'narzo' and not 'Narzo') 20 Series, which comprises of 3 models: The most basic, budget-oriented narzo 20A, which provides good value for what it comes packed with; The mid - narzo 20, which too has an amazing spec-sheet which is actually effective in real life. Next comes the 'Pro' variant, the narzo 20 Pro. Here are a few of my thoughts on the phone, the narzo 20 Pro:

The realme 7 was launched at a price of 14,999 INR, which came with a Helio G95 processor, a 64 Megapixel Quad-camera setup, a 5000 mAH battery with 30W charger in the box and a decent software, "with no banned apps".

On the other hand, realme, for their younger audience, launched the narzo 20 Pro with almost similar specs and same price. Just as I say 'same price' you might wonder, what's really different from the realme 7 here. So here are a few highlights of that phone:

  • A Helio G95 Processor, which has amazing CPU and GPU clock speeds. Especially, the GPU here is phenomenal.
  • A 48 Megapixel Quad Camera Setup: 48 Megapixel Primary, an 8 Megapixel Ultrawide, 2 Megapixel Dept and Macro Cameras.
  • Power provided by the 4500 mAH battery, with a massive 65W Dart Charger in the box, filling up the juice in less than half an hour.
  • Oh, how could anyone forget this, the display: A Full HD+ LCD panel with an amazing 90Hz Refresh Rate, combined with realme UI, gives an amazing experience while browsing through the software and also comes into picture while gaming.
  • MediaTek Processors have always had an issue of heating up. But here, realme claims to have included a Carbon Fibre Cooling System to avoid heating up of the device.
So now, let's compare. What has really changed?
Processor - Same
Cameras -  Downgrade ( Just on Paper. Doesn't really make a huge difference in real-life)
Display - Same
Battery - Downgrade (Compensated by the 65W charger in the box - The realme 7 gets a 30W charger)
Price - Same

When compared, the specs of the realme 7 and narzo 20 Pro are very very similar. Just small downgrades with the battery and camera. The battery downgrade being compensated by CRAZY fast charging and the camera not really making a difference. With this kind of neck-to-neck competition between 2 phones from the same brand, which one do you think will win? No one knows! It's so very confusing that anyone would go mad picking one of these.

NOTE: No doubt, the phone is really very good and provides amazing value for money.

But I feel, it kind of confuses the consumer and I'm sure that would not be an intension of any smartphone brand. This blog is being published with the only intension that people should know what their smartphone brand is trying to do to them. This doesn't mean I'm against realme, I hate realme and all that. And if you've been reading my older blogs, you might have seen the way I praise realme. I felt realme is launching new phones very soon and in turn confusing the consumer.

OBS Studio: Makes your Video Conferencing / Recording MUCH BETTER!

In the recent past, the companies that have gained huge popularity are Video-conferencing and online learning platforms (Byjus' and WhiteHatJr).  And so is the popularity for screen recorders and virtual-cameras. You might've heard of screen recorders and Video-conferencing software, but what's a virtual-camera? A camera without hardware? Absolutely not!  A virtual-camera is something that can output/stream video wherever you want it to.  Virtual Camera on OBS:  OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is a widely used open-source streaming/recording software. As the name suggests, it helps you with streaming/recording content from you PC.  Image Courtesy: Elegant Themes How to use it?  Here's a mini-guide on how it can be useful to you If you've got to configure your video, i.e, crop out, adjust the lighting (through software though: Brightness) and all other kinds of configurations, here's how you've to do it.   In the "Sources" Window in the bott...

Apple M1 : What’s going on with the ARM based SoC?

In the recently concluded ‘ Spring Loaded ’ event, Apple unveiled some of their highly anticipated products, including the AirTags with U1 chip, redesigned iMac , and iPad Pro of course. On the software side of things, Apple Podcasts ’s got an updated fresh looking app and will be a subscription based service.  Image Courtesy: CNET   But what caught everyone’s eye and currently is the talk of the hour is M1 . You’d right now probably be like, “Wait, M1 ain’t new”. Of course M1 isn’t new to any of us, but it surely is new to the iPad and iMac! Yes you read it right, both the newly launched iMac and iPad ’ve got the M1 chip.  What’s going on with M1? iMac: Image Courtesy: Business Insider Basically, M1’s an ARM based SoC (System on Chip). In simpler words, it’s an integration of components like the CPU, GPU, RAM, Storage, ISP (Image Signal Processor) and the neural engine. Previously, each of these components weren’t present as a whole, which’s why the M1’s so much m...
