The iPhone 5s was launched in the mid 2013, and Apple have still managed to push updates till 2019. So, is it a usable, efficient smartphone in 2020? Let's find out.
The Build :
The iPhone 5s comes with a metal body and a metal frame, which is quite rare to spot in the present lot. As it is metal, the back isn't a fingerprint magnet, while most smartphones in the present lot are. It is very durable, but a bit slippery. On the front side, it has Corning Gorilla Glass, which makes it resistant to scratches and minor cracks.

The Display :
The iPhone 5s has a 4 inch IPS LCD display, with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Though nowadays, smartphones have a higher refresh rate, the software makes the experience buttery smooth.
The Cameras :
Here, we get a single camera, which is very rare nowadays(Both on the front and the rear). The rear camera is an 8 Megapixel f/2.2 lens, which takes brilliant shots in well-lit surroundings. It doesn't have a night-mode though. It can record video at 1080P 30FPS. The front camera here is a 1.2 Megapixel f/2.4 lens, which also takes amazing selfies. Though the "Numbers" here are less, the pictures come out to be amazing. The reason will be known soon.
The Performance :
The iPhone 5s comes with the 28NM A7 SoC. This was the flagship SoC by Apple in 2013, which outperforms many budget, mid-rangers in the present lot too. Though it has EMMC storage, the app opening times are fantastic. GPU performance is also quite good. Few budget smartphones of 2020 have a slightly better GPU than the 5s. But, gaming is something that isn't meant to be done on the iPhone 5s, it's all productivity. The A7, along with 1GB of RAM and the software, which will come to in a bit, provides you with an amazing experience in day-to-day tasks.

The Battery :
4000mAh has become a standard in 2020 android smartphones. But, the iPhone 5s comes with a 1560 mAh battery, which might sound really poor, but it actually provides a decent experience. It may last for a day with casual usage and the battery life will dip if used in intensive tasks. That being said, let's come to the software.
The Software :
The software experience on the iPhone 5s is just FANTASTIC. Going back to cameras, though it has a lesser Megapixel camera, the pictures come out really well. All thanks to the software. Even the battery life, is governed by this amazing software optimization. Most brands, nowadays, give updates only for 3 years or so, whereas, Apple here have given 6 major updates including the iOS12 update. The software also plays a vital role in RAM management, which is very good on the 5s. The overall software experience here is phenomenal.

Final Verdict :
The amazing A7 SoC, combined with 1GB of RAM and the buttery smooth iOS, makes it a productivity master. If you aren't a gamer and do not throw intensive tasks on your smartphones, this one's surely usable for you. But, if you're into gaming, then this smartphone may not satisfy you.
